Another Free Day with the Louvre - Sevres Porcelain Factory 10-12-15

Today we had the opportunity to visit the Sevres porcelain factory which hosts the Cite de la Ceramique, (aka national museum of ceramiques). It was a free day for members of the Louvre so we decided it would make a nice day.  It is out in the suburb of St. Cloud on the southwest periphery of the city. The museum is housed in an 18th century palace and features pottery and porcelain works from 2000 BCE up to 2015.
It starts with works from Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, and the Middle East (Islamic) in the first 3 rooms and then shows some works from tribal areas of previously French Colonies in the western hemisphere. After these rooms it focuses primarily on Europe (i.e. France and Spain) with representative works from the 10th century going forward to today.
Many beautiful vases, some of which are larger than me and extremely ornate, lots of sculpture in porcelain, dinnerware, etc.  We spent a few hours looking at so many beautiful objects and then scooted back to the apartment to get ready for our trip beginning tomorrow.  Posts may be sporadic but I'll post whenever I can.
