Last Saturday we took ourselves down to the Porte de Vanves for the weekly brocante market, it's there every Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am to 2:00pm rain or shine. Then afterwards we went to the Guinguette Javel on the quai side of the Seine, south of the Eiffel Tour for hamburgers. In my post of that day I mentioned that Deb said she could do it every Saturday, so today we did a replay. It was raining when we awoke but quickly stopped so we gathered ourselves up and made an early start, the vendors start shutting down shortly after 12:00 so getting there early means you can see all the stuff on offer. Due to the earlier rain several of the dealers that are usually there were missing, but no matter we still had an enjoyable walk through. After the market started shutting down we took the tram over to the guinguette.

We were concerned that with the heavy cloud cover they may not be open, however it was business as usual. The food truck today had Thai offering, so it was chicken satays and Pad Thai for lunch, coupled with a pichet of red wine from Chinon. The wind was a bit course and actually paired up with the spiciness of the Thai food pretty well. There were few customers when we arrived but soon the sky cleared and as the afternoon progressed the place really got busy. It was so nice sitting there after all the really hot days we've had that one pichet led to another and we ended up spending all afternoon sitting on the quai. We watched two river cruise ships being loaded with bus after bus of vacationers and as we were leaving finally one of them slipped their mooring ropes and headed out into the river.

One of Deb's goals has been to cross all the bridges in Paris during our visit and today we managed another three of them. The Pont du Garigliano to the south across and back to the guinguette, next to the north the Pont Mirabeau which we crossed and walked along the Quai Louis Bleriot (first man to fly across the English Channel) to the north to Pont de Grenelle.
The Pont de Grenelle crossed first to a small island in middle on which is sited a smaller scale sculpture of Lady Liberty and then crossed into a very modern group of high-rises much like the La Defense area. Totally new to us.

Due to the lateness of the day we will have to come back and walk the Allee des Cygnes which traversed the length of the isle. It took until almost 9:00pm to get home due to the tardiness of the bus but we just enjoyed the process and didn't stress. When we got home I got to watch the live broadcast of the rugby match between England and France which is a warmup match for the upcoming World Cup. It will be held in England in September.
