We woke up this morning to rain, not heavy but persistent. However by around 10:00 it had stopped and we decided that we would try to find the guinguette, that I stumbled on in a Paris blog, La Guinguette Auvergnate. However being August we felt we should try to determine whether they were closed for the month or not so I found their website and there was no mention of closures. So we took the Metro down to the station where we could pick up the RER C which would take us to a nearby station.
As part of the entry I read about there was also a 3+ kilometer walk along the Seine leading up to it. It is supposedly a real throwback to the early guinguettes, prices are very moderate and on Sundays they feature dancing as well as offering food and drinks in a rustic atmosphere, just the kind of place that interests people with a cabin in Guffey.
So we caught the train out to Choisi-le-Roy and got out. The first order of business was to walk across the Seine and find the walking trail which we would follow down to Villeneuve Triage, our goal.
We had some concern about the weather due to forecasts of rain, but it stayed overcast and turned out to be quite comfortable walking. It is very industrial down here south of the city center and the path along the river is a little run down but it is very quiet and, at least today, little used. It was very positive to see that there were birds on and fish in the river so the water is healthy. After an hour or so we arrived at our destination and when we got to the front door there was a hand-written note "closed from 6 August until 23 August for the fermeture annuelle". So we made it to both guinguettes but no beer or dancing at the one today. At least we had a nice walk down along the river and we'll come back in the fall.
The other positive note was that the railway station back into Paris is only about 25 meters from the front door of the Guinguette, so we got back to Gare de Lyon in about 20 minutes.
